Kristen (she/hers) is a Registered Social Worker and Canadian Certified Counsellor with a Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Kristen has over 10 years combined education and experience counselling individuals, families, parents and facilitating group therapy and various mental health workshops.
Kristen believes that every client has a unique story and adapts her counselling practice to your specific needs. Kristen is influenced by various models of counselling including Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) & Internal Family Systems & Queer Theory. Above all, Kristen works from a trauma informed & intersectional feminist lens, recognizing the influence gender, sexuality and socio-economic status and culture can have on our experiences. She is a LGBTQ2S+ and poly-friendly/ethical-non monogamy counsellor and is very enthusiastic about challenging heteronormative culture!
Kristen provides individual & relationship therapy, along with clinical supervision and is in the process of receiving the Canadian Certified Counsellor Supervisor (CCC-S) designation through the CCPA. Through all therapeutic experiences, Kristen encourages clients to notice the harmful systems of oppression that impact mental health; in particular colonialism, patriarchy and white-supremacy. Kristen is passionate to work with all humans and truly believes that Feminism is For Everybody (thank you bell hooks!) and to love a woman, feminism is no longer a choice but an action.
Kristen is a Daughter, Sister, Partner & Auntie and an uninvited white settler who resides on the stolen land of the Sts’ailes people and Sto:Lo Nation. Kristen is grateful to live and play in this community, and can be found sitting by the water with a coffee and her beloved French Bulldog, Larry. Kristen is open about childfree living in a pro-natal world, and is candid about her journey of choosing a childfree life in an effort to challenge the stigma women face regarding decisions about their body.
