Melissa (she/hers) is a Registered Social Worker and holds a Master of Social Work degree as well as a Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Justice Studies. She began her therapeutic practice in the sexual violence field providing counselling to individuals, presentations to the community, and training for professionals. Melissa has 19 years combined education and experience supporting clients with various issues related to trauma, mental health, grief & loss, addictions, and relationship concerns. She has worked with individuals, couples, families, and within the legal and healthcare systems.
Always working from a relational approach, Melissa strives to create safety in each therapy session and recognizes that clients are the experts in their own lives. She draws upon emotional, cognitive, and somatic knowledge to address the whole person and integrates a combination of therapeutic approaches such as EMDR, Sensorimotor psychotherapy, EFT, and mindfulness to meet each person’s unique needs. Melissa also has extensive experience supporting people struggling with eating disorders.
Melissa strongly believes people should not heal in isolation. She feels privileged to work with the unique strengths of each of her clients, in order to help them reach their true goals.
