MA, Counsellor

What is something you would like to share with someone thinking of trying counselling for the first time?

In the wise words of Brené Brown, “vulnerability is our most accurate measure of courage.” Counselling can be a transformational and life changing process, one that many of us put off for years or even decades. It takes courage to take the first step in seeking support, but every journey begins with one step, and if you’re reading this you have already begun that journey. So many of us experience the feeling of not being enough, not doing enough, and not having enough. Social comparison and the cultural mandate of productivity as a status symbol takes a toll on our mental wellbeing and our relationship to ourselves, others, and our community. In a society that values independence and self-efficacy, it can feel daunting to seek help when you are struggling, overwhelmed, or feeling alone - and a lot of us don’t even recognize that we’re in a state of survival mode! And so if you find yourself here, it seems you have already taken the first step towards healing and positive change. Processing life’s challenges (both current and from the past) in a supportive shared space can help lighten the load and deepen your understanding of yourself and the problems you face. In this process, we work collaboratively to develop new insights that mobilize change and cultivate a greater sense of empowerment, peace of mind, and self-awareness. Recognizing that underneath most suffering is often the pain of having to bear it on your own, it is my goal to walk alongside you to create a safe and trusting relationship to face life’s challenges together.
