Practicum Counsellor

Dasha Condor is accepting new clients.

Hi, I’m Dasha (she/her)

Life gets messy, confusing, and heavy, and exploring it on our own can be exhausting. I don’t believe in putting people into boxes or issuing advice from across the room. I show up as a real human to help you work through the hard stuff and find your way to feeling a little lighter. As an intern counsellor completing my Master of Counselling program, I offer accessing counselling while I work under the direct supervision of a registered and experienced supervisor. This means you receive low-cost, safe, supportive, and professional care throughout our work together.

Counselling for Anxiety, Social Anxiety, & Depression

Feeling anxious, having a hard time in social settings, or feeling flat isn’t a defect. It’s often a response to an overwhelming world. If you find yourself overthinking, having trouble finding motivation, or feeling burned out, you don’t have to face it alone. We can look at what you’re going through with care and understanding. In our work together, you’ll have a safe space to talk, understand yourself better, and learn simple tools to help you feel more balanced

Couples Counselling & Relational Therapy

Relationships can be incredibly meaningful while also being complex. These are often the spaces where our oldest and deepest attachment pain resurface. I work with people who want a safe, objective, and equalizing space to look at their relationship and patterns within. Together, we will look at how power, communication barriers, and unspoken expectations affect your relationship. We will work toward more support, understanding, and connection.

Immigration, Migration, & Cultural Identity

The immigrant experience can shape each generation in different ways. Some people have to start over with limited resources. Others may carry quiet guilt, family pressure, or high expectations. Financial stress can add to these challenges. So can work experience or qualifications that are not recognized. Cultural expectations can also make you feel like you have to give up part of who you are to build a life in a new place. Through clinical counselling, I offer a supportive space to work through family expectations. We can talk about the challenges of fitting into a new culture and community. You’ll also have space to explore who you want to be on your own terms.

Addiction & Substance Management

Behaviours that are hard to control and substance use can be ways of coping with overwhelming stress or pain. You may be using them to get through difficult experiences. Through clinical counselling, I provide a judgment-free and harm-reduction space. My approach is grounded in real-world experience with addiction and social barriers. We don’t focus on shame or control. Instead, we work to understand what is behind your distress. Together, we build tools that support you and help you regain a sense of stability.

Trauma & Complex Mental Health

When you are dealing with trauma, sexual violence, or mental health challenges, feeling safe matters. I have specialized experience supporting people through complex trauma, mental health crises, psychosis, schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder, Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and concurrent disorders (none of which define who you are).

Trauma can affect us in many ways. We may not always realize that what we are feeling or doing is connected to past trauma. You may feel constantly on edge, suddenly feel numb or angry, or have a hard time setting and changing boundaries with others. In our clinical counselling work, my priority is to offer a steady and non-judgmental space. We can work through past trauma and ease distress at a pace that feels right for you.

About Me: Russian Speaking Clinical Intern Counsellor

I’m a Russian-speaking, first-generation immigrant to Canada. I’m deeply interested in the many ways we experience and walk through life. Outside of counselling, I’m a self-proclaimed foodie who loves trying new recipes, especially anything with tomatoes!

What to Expect in Our First Session

Taking the first step toward counselling can be really hard, I try to make it as comfortable as possible. We will go at your pace, there is no pressure to share more than you are ready to. Please don’t worry if you don’t know where to start! During our first meeting, we will:

  • Review informed consent forms, privacy, and confidentiality so you know exactly how your information is protected.
  • Explore any questions you have about the therapy process or my approach.
  • Discuss what brought you to counselling and what you hope to get out of our time together.
  • Begin building a plan together that aligns with your goals, comfort level, and schedule.

I would be happy to connect with you for a free 15 minute virtual or phone consultation.

You can contact me directly at condortherapy@gmail.com and view my Informed Consent Form here.

It depends on what you want. Most clients fall into one of three categories:

  1. One (or two) and done – I just want some advice to move forward on a problem. Cool, just let me know that so I can make sure the session will be focused.
  2. Acute issue – I need some support to resolve an issue, but I don’t want to be in counselling forever. This usually takes 8-12 sessions but could be shorter or longer based on your needs (time, financial, issue complexity). We create the ideal structure together.
  3. Long-term therapeutic relationship – I need a safe space to process life events. Sessions are often booked up to a year in advance so you can count on the structure and support. The topic often changes session to session, but relates back to an overarching theme of self-development, relationship management, or something of that nature.

I can’t tell you which issues fall into which bucket, or guarantee results, because each client is unique. It’s best to let me know which category you think you might fall into, we can check and adjust as needed.

What is your favourite thing about working closely with people every day?

An aspect that I particularly enjoy is witnessing people show up for themselves, take risks, make new connections, and celebrate every win with them each step of the way. Therapy is not a linear process and markers of ‘success’ are subjective social constructs that have been imposed on us, it’s important to remind ourselves of this. It takes courage, energy, and real resources to take the step towards counselling, and for me, it’s a privilege to be part of that process.
