Kristen Hydes, BSW, MA
Registered Social Worker
Kristen is a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Kristen has over 10 years combined education and experience counselling individuals, families, parents and facilitating group therapy and various mental health workshops.
Kristen believes that every client has a unique story and adapts her counselling practice to your specific needs. Kristen is influenced by various models of counselling including Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. She uses multiple therapeutic tools tailored to your individual personality, challenges and goals.
Kristen’s counselling approach mirrors her practice as a yoga teacher and focuses on living in the present and connecting to our authentic selves. She recognizes the inner strength that lives within all of us, whether young or old. Kristen’s work is influenced by years of experience working with children, youth and families. She exudes an innate belief that all clients can reach their highest potential.
Kristen holds specific training and experience working with members of the LGBTQ community, and recognizes the influence gender, sexuality and socio-economic status and culture can have on our experiences.
