Pranjali Agarwal Dhingra is accepting new clients.

Hi, I’m Pranjali (she/her).

I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and a licensed clinical psychologist, offering individual and relationship counselling in English and Hindi.

Anxiety, Stress & Perfectionism Counselling

For many of my clients, anxiety isn’t tied to one clear event. It can feel like a constant hum of worry, difficulty resting, or a sense of being on edge even when nothing is wrong.

For some clients who have immigrated and rebuilt their lives in a new country, anxiety can also carry the pressure to prove that leaving everything behind was worth it. You may feel like you’re constantly auditioning for your family back home or for yourself, carrying the weight of “What if I’m not good enough to belong here?” or fearing that failure means letting everyone down.

This pressure can turn into perfectionism: being so careful, controlled, or unwilling to risk anything less than excellent that there’s no room left to simply exist without performing. I help clients understand where this pressure comes from and begin separating their sense of worth from what they achieve or provide for others.

ADHD, Overwhelm & Emotional Regulation

Living with ADHD can affect much more than attention. You may struggle to start tasks even when they’re important, feel easily overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities, have difficulty maintaining routines, experience intense emotions, or move between periods of high productivity and complete exhaustion.

Over time, these experiences can also create shame. You may wonder why things that seem easy for other people feel so difficult for you, or feel like you should simply be more disciplined, organized, or productive.

My goal isn’t to force you into someone else’s version of productivity. Together, we can better understand how ADHD shows up in your life, develop strategies that work with your brain, and find ways to manage overwhelm and emotions without relying on constant internal pressure.

Relationship Counselling & Repeating Patterns

You can love someone and still feel completely out of sync with them. Maybe you show love one way and they show it another, and somehow it never lands the way either of you means it. One of you may need space to process while the other needs to talk things through immediately, turning the same difference into the same argument again and again.

You may already understand the pattern and still have no idea how to change it. I work with individuals and couples to explore recurring conflict, communication, emotional needs, and relationship patterns so you can move beyond simply naming what’s happening and begin responding to each other differently.

Identity, Self-Worth & People-Pleasing

Many of my clients have spent years earning approval instead of assuming they already have it. You may manage everyone else’s needs before your own, struggle to say no, or feel like your worth is something to be proven rather than something you already have.

Sometimes these patterns develop within family or cultural expectations that were internalized long before you had a say in them. Underneath, there may be a quieter question: Who am I when no one else’s expectations are in the room?

Together, we can explore where these beliefs and patterns came from, what you actually want and need, and how to build a sense of self that isn’t dependent on staying small, agreeable, useful, or perfect.

Trauma & Attachment Counselling

Some wounds don’t look like what you’d expect trauma to look like. They can look like flinching when someone raises their voice, going quiet during an argument because speaking up doesn’t feel safe, or loving someone while still waiting for them to leave.

Past experiences can continue to shape how close you let people get, how much you brace for something to go wrong, and how easily you can trust that you’re safe and wanted exactly as you are.

I offer trauma-informed, attachment-based counselling that moves at your pace. Together, we can understand the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself, explore how those patterns affect your life and relationships today, and create space for new ways of relating to yourself and others.

How I Work

I practice insight-oriented therapy. Sometimes the first explanation we have for our behaviour is only one part of the story, so we’ll take the time to look deeper at the experiences, beliefs, and patterns underneath it.

I’m interested not only in helping you manage what you’re experiencing now, but also in understanding where it comes from and why it makes sense in the context of your life. I draw on CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed and attachment-based approaches to help you understand your story and begin making changes that feel meaningful and sustainable.

The Eldest Daughter Who Had to Prove It

As the eldest daughter in an Indian family, I learned early that being loved and being enough were two different things I had to earn separately: through grades, through behaviour, and through never giving anyone a reason to say I was less than anyone else.

I fought for every inch of what I was allowed to do, wear, and become. That experience shapes how I work now. I don’t just understand overfunctioning and perfectionism in theory. I recognize the pressure when a client describes it because I’ve lived inside it.

Outside of Sessions

I can’t start my day without a good cup of coffee. It’s less about finding something new and more about the ritual of it. I’m obsessed with fall—colourful leaves, warm drinks, the whole season—and I will stop to pet pretty much any dog I pass.

Once every week or two, I give myself full permission to be a couch potato, with nothing productive happening. I also recently discovered, somewhat to my own surprise, that I’m actually a pretty great cook.

Session Information

I offer accessible/sliding-scale counselling for a limited number of clients: 50-minute sessions at $95 and 75-minute sessions at $143. Please reach out to ask about current availability.

I offer in-person and virtual sessions on Mondays and Saturdays from 2–8pm, and virtual sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8am–2pm. In-person sessions are available in Vancouver, while virtual sessions are available to clients across British Columbia.

It depends on what you want. Most clients fall into one of three categories:

  1. One (or two) and done – I just want some advice to move forward on a problem. Cool, just let me know that so I can make sure the session will be focused.
  2. Acute issue – I need some support to resolve an issue, but I don’t want to be in counselling forever. This usually takes 8-12 sessions but could be shorter or longer based on your needs (time, financial, issue complexity). We create the ideal structure together.
  3. Long-term therapeutic relationship – I need a safe space to process life events. Sessions are often booked up to a year in advance so you can count on the structure and support. The topic often changes session to session, but relates back to an overarching theme of self-development, relationship management, or something of that nature.

I can’t tell you which issues fall into which bucket, or guarantee results, because each client is unique. It’s best to let me know which category you think you might fall into, we can check and adjust as needed.

What is your favourite thing about working closely with people every day?

Every person who sits across from me has a unique history that no one else has. And they chose me to be part of their story. The fact that someone trusts me enough to let me into their most vulnerable space — that is something I never take for granted. It is the part of this work that stays with me.

What is a personal challenge that you have overcome in your own life?

When I was young I struggled a lot with low self-esteem and confidence. I did not believe in myself the way I needed to. That experience is part of why identity and self-worth work feels so personal to me. I know from the inside what it feels like to not feel like enough — and I know that it can change. That journey shaped who I am as a counsellor more than any training I have done.

What have you learned from your work?

I have learned about the beauty of the human mind. We all experience things like anxiety or self-doubt — but where it comes from is completely different for every person. Two people can have the exact same feeling and it started in entirely different places in their lives. People often fail to understand that about each other, and sometimes about themselves. My job is to help people understand their own story. That never gets old.
