Facilitators:
Wendy Ma (馬凱怡) is a second-generation Chinese Canadian with ancestral roots from Toisan, Guangdong. She is a Canadian Certified Counsellor who is passionate about contributing to the destigmatization of mental health in the Asian diaspora and works with clients to reclaim their cultural identity and unique stories of intergenerational trauma and resilience. This work is immensely meaningful to her because she recognizes who she is is deeply rooted and lost in her heritage. When she felt like she wasn’t either Chinese or Canadian “enough”, she also found healing and strength in the Asian community.
Sumeet Bhamra is a second-generation Punjabi Sikh Canadian with ancestral roots from India and Kenya. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, she is invested in creating accessible and safe counselling spaces for people in the Asian community. She focuses her practice on the interconnection between our relationships with self, community, the world and different generations. Leading to an understanding of what our stories are and how those stories can impact self and community healing. Sumeet has been on her own journey of feeling stuck between cultural worlds and navigating a neurodivergent identity in adulthood.
